Zion Williamson, a 24-year-old for New Orleans Pelicans, has been diagnosed with a left hamstring strain, which has caused him to miss time again. Williamson's litany of setbacks continues to grow as the Pelicans confirmed on Saturday that he will be sidelined indefinitely.
Williamson has found it difficult to remain on the court following an impressive start to his NBA career. He fractured his right foot over the summer, which kept him out of action for the entire 2021–2022 campaign. He then had to miss time due to a season-ending hamstring injury in January 2023, but he came back at the start of the 2023–2024 campaign.
New Orleans Pelicans has not had a good start this year
Despite making the playoffs twice and posting winning records in just two of his five NBA seasons, the Pelicans have never advanced past the opening round. With a 3-7 record in the first few weeks of the season, New Orleans Pelicans has not had a good start this year. Now that Williamson is out for good, the Pelicans must figure out how to compete in the challenging Western Conference. Williamson's ongoing injury issues make the Pelicans' future unknown for the time being, but the team will be hopeful he can get back to full health as soon as possible.
