On Friday night, Sabrina Ionescu scored 25 points, and Breanna Stewart scored 32, as the New York Liberty comfortably defeated the Seattle Storm 98-85. Over Sabrina Ionescu's five years with the New York Liberty, fans have witnessed some pretty amazing things, but what she accomplished on Friday night could have been a first.

With 12 points, Leonie Fiebich led the Liberty (27–7). The group bounced back from a three-game road trip that resulted in a defeat to the bottom-seeded Los Angeles Sparks. Despite being sick and missing the previous game, Jonquel Jones pulled down 11 rebounds as the Liberty outrebounded them 45–17. 17 of New York's rebounds were offensive.

Sabrina Ionescu drove to the hoop with 5:03 remaining in the fourth quarter, up 85-77 against the Seattle Storm, and she hit a shot as she fell to the ground. Ionescu made a strange shot halfway through the fourth quarter to put New York ahead 89-79, and it looked like New York was going to win this one. She stumbled while trying a contested layup on a drive to the hoop. She banked the rebound in from her knees after it dropped to her.

As soon as possible, fans used social media to show their appreciation for what they had just seen. With less than three minutes remaining, the Storm pulled within six, but Fiebich finished with two offensive rebounds, a three-pointer, and six more points from Ionescu to seal the victory over Seattle Storm

Ionescu helped New York seize a 74-71 lead after three quarters by scoring 12 points in the final 5 1/2 minutes. Ionescu ended the game with 98 points, 85 rebounds, and 8 assists. She has scored 25 points or more in five games this season, and it was only the second time she has pulled down eight or more rebounds.
