In a much-anticipated debut for the Sacramento Kings, six-time NBA All-Star DeMar DeRozan made an immediate impact during Wednesday night's preseason opener against the Golden State Warriors. Despite the Kings falling short in a 122-112 loss, DeRozan’s performance electrified the Golden 1 Center and gave fans a glimpse of what the veteran can offer this season.

DeRozan, who joined the Kings in July, received a warm welcome from the Sacramento crowd, and he did not disappoint. In just 15 minutes of action, the 34-year-old forward delivered an impressive stat line, scoring 15 points while shooting a perfect 6-of-6 from the field.

He also converted both of his free throw attempts, showcasing his efficiency and poise under the bright lights. His flawless debut immediately established him as the top scorer for the Kings, leading a group of 16 players that head coach Mike Brown rotated throughout the game.

"I worked my butt off this summer, man. More than ever," DeRozan said after the game, reflecting on his offseason preparation. "Coming into this training camp, I wanted to be ready where guys could count on me to just come out and compete." His words echoed the hard work and dedication he put in during the offseason, with Wednesday's performance proving his readiness to lead the team.

King Buddy Hield continues to dominate!

While DeRozan shined, the leading scorer of the night was former King Buddy Hield, now donning a Warriors jersey. Hield put on a show for his new team, dropping 22 points in just 19 minutes of play, helping secure Golden State’s victory.

Despite the loss, DeRozan’s flawless performance has set the tone for an exciting season ahead. The Kings will get another crack at the Warriors when the two teams meet again on Friday, this time at Chase Center in San Francisco. Fans will be eager to see if DeRozan can continue his hot start and guide Sacramento to a strong preseason run.
