In an unexpected twist, the former U.S. President and current Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump left NBA fans shocked with a random shoutout to a LeBron James fan account on X. Given the rocky history between Trump and James, the sudden recognition caught the attention of many, as the two have frequently traded barbs online over the years.

Trump’s shoutout was directed at "BronMuse," a popular X account that boasts over 50,000 followers and is dedicated to all things related to Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James. The account regularly shares updates, highlights, statistics, and analysis of the NBA’s all-time leading scorer and four-time champion, making it a go-to destination for James’ most ardent supporters.

In a post that baffled many, Trump thanked the account for liking one of his posts, though the specific post in question remains unclear. Trump followed the shoutout with a pledge to provide election updates as the 2024 presidential race heats up, particularly from the state of North Carolina, where voters will cast their ballots in the coming month.

“@BronMuse THANK YOU for liking my post! I'll send you IMPORTANT ELECTION UPDATES for North Carolina. Make sure you are ready to VOTE FOR DONALD J. TRUMP by November 5th. Reply #stop to opt-out,” Trump tweeted.

A puzzled relationship between Trump and James!

The shoutout was met with surprise by "BronMuse," which responded with an image of LeBron James, adding another layer of intrigue to the unusual interaction. For a page solely dedicated to one of Trump’s most prominent critics, the exchange seemed out of place.

Over the years, Trump and James have not held back in their criticisms of one another, with the former president even taking jabs at James by expressing his preference for NBA legend Michael Jordan. On one occasion, Trump even mockingly suggested that he’d recruit James for his hypothetical women’s basketball team.

However, many other accounts received similar messages including some non-US-based accounts. It was sent on purpose to generate support. It will be crucial to see if James and Trump interact as the Presidential election looms ahead.
