Tyrese Haliburton, a point guard for Indiana Pacers, will not participate in Saturday's Game 3 against Boston Celtics. Following his exit from Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals in the third quarter, Haliburton is experiencing discomfort in his left hamstring. Game 3 of the series takes place today at Gainbridge Fieldhouse with the Pacers behind 2-0 in the series.

The play in which Tyrese Haliburton pulled out did not appear to be particularly harsh, but he had been experiencing pain or discomfort earlier in the game. After the game, Pacers coach Rick Carlisle informed reporters that Haliburton's hamstring was painful at halftime, but he tried to play through it. He had 10 points, eight assists, and four rebounds in 28 minutes.

Carlisle also stated that Haliburton was struggling with a chest injury sustained following a collision with Celtics player Jaylen Brown. Haliburton's hamstring issue goes back to January when he suffered a Grade 1 strain against the Celtics after slipping while driving to the basket.

Originally thought to be questionable for Saturday's game, Haliburton, who finished Game 2 with 10 points, will now not play. As the NBA leader in assists, Haliburton missed 10 games this season because of a left hamstring injury. In the Pacers' Game 4 on Monday night in Indianapolis where they are 6-0 in the postseason it is still unclear if Haliburton will be able to participate.

Boston Celtics need two more to win to mark their place in finals

Indiana Pacers and Haliburton will examine the situation ahead of Game 4 before making a final determination on his ability to play, according to sources. With their franchise star player injured, the Pacers intend to take precautions.

Due to a strained right calf, Boston had already ruled out Kristaps Porzingis, a former All-Star center. Luke Kornet, the backup center, is still questionable due to a left wrist injury. To make it to their second NBA Finals in three years, Bosotn Celtics will need to win two more games.
