Phoenix Mercury made crucial defensive stops

On May 25, Dallas defeated the Wings 107-92 in Phoenix, and on June 9, the Phoenix Mercury prevailed 97-90 in double overtime away from the Wings. The Mercury have played four games in the last six days after dropping their previous three games and back-to-back games. After only two rebounds on Monday, Brittney Griner rebounded with eight. She contributed 24 points, and all five starters scored in double figures.

The Wings closed the gap to three points as late as 1:54 in the fourth quarter, while the Mercury had an 18-point lead at one point in the game. After that, the Mercury used a string of crucial defensive stops and Copper's incredible 3-pointer with 23.1 seconds left to grab a 102-96 lead. The road trip will conclude with Mercury against the Los Angeles Sparks.
