Hiedeman's fast-break layup, following Alanna Smith's block, gave Minnesota an 84-74 advantage. Dallas' Arike Ogunbowale did not participate due to a strained Achilles. Ogunbowale, who averaged 24.9 points per game, led Dallas in scoring through the first 11 games of the season until being limited to a season-low 11 against Connecticut on Saturday.

Collier shot five out of seventeen from the field.

The Lynx went 23 for 24 at the free throw line, while the Wings only hit one of three attempts. Late in the quarter, Smith stole the ball and sparked a fast break, giving the Lynx a two-point lead. But the Wings made a clear-path foul. Smith made both free throws, McBride was fouled and made both free throws on the next play, and McBride's three gave the Lynx a 27-18 lead before the Wings scored the final four points of the quarter.

Hiedeman drove for a score during a timeout, was fouled, and scored the layup. She was fouled during the next possession, made two free throws, and then found Smith for a layup. With 16 seconds remaining in the quarter, Cecilia Zandalasini's two free throws put the Lynx ahead by five, but the Wings scored at the last second.
