Lakers rookie Bronny James has spoken up regarding his July 2023 cardiac episode during practice at USC. In an insightful interview with Men's Health, the 20-year-old spoke about the day that completely altered his and his family's lives.

He is still attempting to return to his pre-medical state, even though he fought hard to recover from it and was eventually able to play at USC, be picked, and sign with the Lakers. "My days aren't normal anymore. I still feel like I'm getting back to where I was. I got real on top of my routines to get back to where I was. I had to do breathing exercises and stuff. It was a total reset," Bronny James said.

For many basketball fans, James has only played since his cardiac arrest because his health issue occurred before he even played a game at USC. This offseason, the 20-year-old did have a few strong Summer League games that gave an indication of the kind of player he may be. He finished his final two games with a combined 25 points on 10-for-21 shooting despite having a rough Summer League season overall.

Bronny James was seletced by Los Angeles Lakers in NBA Draft

Los Angeles Lakers picked Bronny with the 55th overall choice in the 2024 NBA Draft after he triumphantly returned to the floor in December 2023 for his collegiate debut. He and LeBron James created history earlier this month when they played together as the first father-son team during the Lakers' preseason game against the, which was a happy occasion for the James family.

Head coach JJ Redick is upbeat despite concerns about his NBA preparedness from his preseason performance, which saw him average 0.7 points and one rebound. Many factors have made James' path special, and although some believe he has unjustly gained from his father's position, there is no doubt that the youngster has encountered many challenges along the road, maybe more than the typical athlete his age.
