JJ Redick is leading the race coaching position at the Los Angeles Lakers as they are looking for a replacement since they fired Darvib Ham due to poor performance. According to reports, there are no signs of finalising the deal that he has the job at the team.

Meanwhile, JJ Redick had a meeting with the Los Angeles Lakers during the weekend and was waiting for the NBA Finals to get over to make his choices. The NBA Finals series between Boston Celtics and Dallas Mavericks came to an end on Monday as Boston Celtics won Game 5 against Dallas Mavericks 106-88. Yet there is no statement from the Los Angeles Lakers side about the new coach. They have to make a quick decision to make as the NBA Draft is nearing.

As the NBA Draft are near the Los Angeles Lakers are looking beyond JJ Redick for the head coach position. If they do so, they can look for the right candidate for the job as they have to deal with LeBron James' contract issue and who is going to be free agency.

What's next for the Los Angeles Lakers?

In the meantime, the Los Angeles Lakers also connected Dan Hurley for the role. Later Dan Hurley opted out of the talks as he stated that he would remain in NCAA. Meanwhile, on Wednesday, the Detroit Pistons fired their coach Monty Williams just after hiring him for one year. His contract was for six years with a $78.5 million deal. According to reports JJ Redick is now linked with Detroit Piston for the head coach position.

Now all eyes are on the Los Angeles Lakers to see whom they will appoint as head coach for the upcoming NBA season and if Detroit Piston comes in between they will have to face a race for JJ Redick for the role. However, it is yet not confirmed why the Los Angeles Lakers haven’t yet given JJ Redick the coach position and they are still in consideration of hiring other candidates. JJ Redick was not a first choice for the role in Los Angeles.
