LeBron James scores 40 points leads Los Angeles Lakers to victory over Brooklyn Nets

On Sunday night LeBron James set a new landmark as he scored 40 points and went a near-perfect 9-of-10 from behind the arc. He helped the Los Angeles Lakers defeat the Brooklyn Nets 116-104.

On Sunday night LeBron James set a new landmark as he scored 40 points and went a near-perfect 9-of-10 from behind the arc. He helped the Los Angeles Lakers defeat the Brooklyn Nets 116-104. In this season so far, this season his 40 points highest output while his nine 3-pointers equaled his personal best.

Although he turned 39 years old last December his average in this season is 25.4 points, 7.3 rebounds, 8.1 assists, and 1.2 steals per contest while shooting 53.3% from the field and 41.6% from the three-point range in 65 games.

In the first quarter of the game, the Los Angeles Lakers were dominating the Brooklyn Nets as they took the lead 17-0. Going to the third quarter of the game LA Lakers were in the lead of 72-46. Cam Thomas scored 30 points and six assists as he helped to cut down the gap to 90-79 as the game was going to last quarter. He opened the fourth quarter with a 3-pointer as the gap was reduced to 90-82.

With 10:50 minutes left to end the game; LeBron James scored back-to-back 3s as the LA Lakers again took the lead 96-82.

There were the back-to-back 3s from James that gave the Lakers a 96-82 lead with 10:50 remaining. LeBron James was constantly putting pressure on the Brooklyn Nets' defense by scoring again and again. With just 6:21 minutes remaining he gave the team lead of 111-93. He got support from his teams as Anthony Davis scored 24 points and 14 rebounds, Rui Hachimura scored 20 point-10 rebound double-double, D’Angelo Russell got 18 points, six rebounds, and six assists and Austin Reaves had 12 points, seven rebounds, and six assists.

On Tuesday Los Angeles Lakers will take on the Toronto Raptors and the next day they will face the Washington Wizards to end their road trip.
