Alex Caruso will now be playing for the Oklahoma City Thunder in the next season of the NBA. On the other hand, Josh Giddey will be representing the Chicago Bulls in the upcoming NBA season. A trade has taken place between the Bulls and the Thunder which has resulted in a major change. Both the teams confirmed the deal and Sam Presti spoke about it.

In the press conference, the GM of Oklahoma City Thunder said that the team has grown in stature since Giddey joined them in 2021. He added that it was evident the way the squad was and gave no room for Josh to be in the Playing 5. He said that the move probably did not go well with Josh who decided to make a move towards a different territory. Presti added that after several discussions, the conclusion was made for the trade.

"As always, Josh demonstrated the utmost professionalism throughout the discussions. Josh Giddey has All-Star potential, but accessing that in the current construct of the Thunder would not be optimal for the collective. Based on these discussions we decided to move forward and prioritize what was best for the organization," said the Thunder GM.

Josh Giddey and Alex Caruso's stats over the years

For the Chicago Bulls, it will be a positive addition, as they get a young face in Giddey who is all of 21 years old. In the NBA Draft 2021, Josh was the sixth overall pick. In the NBA 2023-24, he averaged 12.3 points, claimed 6.4 rebounds, and 4.8 assists. In three seasons, Giddey claimed an average of 13.9 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 5.7 assists.

Caruso was not bad for the Bulls. He was in the Los Angeles Lakers before joining the Bulls in 2021. For Chicago, he has an average of 6.8 points, 2.9 rebounds, 2.9 assists, and 1.3 steals. The 30-year-old won the NBA Hustle Award in 2023-24. With the Lakers, he won the title in the 2019-20 season. While Chicago gets a young face, Oklahoma City will get an experienced player.
