In the 2022 offseason, Jalen Brunson signed a contract worth $104 million and has two more seasons left on his four-year contract deal, which includes a $24.96 million player option for the 2025-26 season.

Since signing the contract, the 27-year-old has outperformed expectations, scoring 25.9 points per game for the Knicks. He made his first All-Star appearance in February, and his current scoring average of 27.8 points per night is fourth among all players in the 2023-24 season.

He has an average of 6.6 assists per game and has been contributing to wins as the team is performing well when Jalen Brunson is on the court. He has the second-best net rating among any player on the team that has appeared in more than 30 games.

Both the parties will start the disussion when offseason begins

Since Jalen Brunson's arrival at the New York Knicks has become one of the NBA's most successful teams, presently sitting in fifth place in the Eastern Conference with a 44-31 record.  Brunson has also been around familiar faces in New York, as shooting guard Donte DiVincenzo and wing Josh Hart were former Villanova teammates.

There doesn't appear to be much motivation for him to go, barring a modest contract extension offer from New York's front office, especially with a fellow All-Star colleague in Julius Randle and a defensive-minded forward in OG Anunoby. The Knicks will be without Randle, who is expected to have season-ending shoulder surgery.

The two parties will most likely try to ensure his long-term future in New York once the offseason begins.
