Isaiah Collier is leaving Southern California after a single season to enter the NBA draft. On Wednesday, the Trojans revealed his decision on their X website. "Congratulations Zay and good luck in your next chapter!" The post reads.
Collier averaged 16.3 points (second-best on the squad) and 2.9 rebounds while starting 26 of 27 games. He hit 49% from the field and 67% from the free throw line for the Trojans, who finished 15-18 overall. He missed six games after undergoing right-hand surgery in January.
Collier was chosen to the All-Pac-12 Freshman Team and received an honorable mention. Last year, the 6-foot-5 guard from Atlanta came to USC as the nation's top recruit out of Wheeler High School in Georgia.
Collier is the most recent dropout from the program. Coach Andy Enfield just resigned to accept the position at SMU, while fellow freshman Bronny James, the son of NBA icon LeBron James, revealed he was declaring for the draft while also accessing the transfer portal. Junior Kobe Johnson has transferred to crosstown rival UCLA.
NBA Draft will take place on June 26 and 27
Eric Musselman was hired from Arkansas last week to replace Enfield. Collier attended his first news conference.
USC did not have the predicted year. The Trojans were rated before the season started, but things changed dramatically after they began playing. USC sank deeper and lower as it failed to deliver on its preseason promises. The Trojans were 15-18 overall (8-12 in conference) and missed the NCAA playoffs.
The 2024 NBA Draft will take place on June 26 and 27, marking the first time the procedures will be stretched over two nights rather than one.
