Christie Sides, the coach of the Indiana Fever, responded to her star rookie Caitlin Clark's fourth-place performance in the 2024 WNBA MVP vote. The Las Vegas Aces standout A'ja Wilson won the prize on a unanimous vote, and it was revealed on Sunday. There were no votes for Clark in the top or second position. After earning six votes for third place, 26 votes for fourth place, and 22 votes for fifth place, the 22-year-old scored 130 points overall.

Before Indiana Fever's postseason matchup with the Connecticut Sun, Coach Sides was questioned about Clark's accomplishment. The former Iowa standout was showered with praise by the Fever's strategist, who also acknowledged her contribution to the team's advancement.

"I mean Caitlin is special...everybody knows that. She has been special," Christie Sides told reporters ahead of Game 1. "She came into the best women's basketball league in the world...she found her footing, she continued to get better. She has put herself in a position to be called one of the best players in this league, that's incredible for a rookie," she added as per Sportskeeda.

Clark had one of the most successful rookie seasons in league history. In addition to setting many records and creating countless memorable moments, the former All-Star made significant contributions to the expansion of the WNBA and accomplished feats never seen in the league before. The 22-year-old's impact on overcoming the team's eight-year postseason drought was acknowledged by the Indiana coach.

In addition, Caitlin Clark responded to coming in fourth in the MVP poll. The rookie Fever thought the accomplishment was "cool," but she continued to concentrate on more pressing matters. The former Iowa star was the overwhelming favorite to earn Rookie of the Year, even if he was not able to win MVP. In addition to her league-high 19.2 point average and 8.4 assists per game, Clark made history by achieving several other notable feats. Among her numerous achievements was making league history as the first rookie to post a triple-double, something Clark accomplished twice.
