The Denver Nuggets are reportedly set to welcome back veteran centre DeAndre Jordan on a one-year, $3.6 million contract. Jordan, who has spent the last two seasons as a backup to star centre Nikola Jokic, has proven to be a valuable asset off the bench.

In the 2023-24 season, he averaged 3.9 points and 4.4 rebounds per game, showcasing his continued effectiveness as a rebounder and finisher at the rim despite limited playing time. As Jordan approaches his 36th birthday, the Nuggets are likely counting on him to reprise his role from the previous seasons.

Before agreeing to terms with Jordan the team was $74.498 million over the salary cap but still had some breathing room under the luxury tax thresholds. With $8.272 million under the first apron and $19.103 million under the second apron. This financial flexibility allows the Nuggets to retain Jordan without jeopardizing their cap situation.
