Angel Reese to join Unrivavled along with WNBA stars

Earlier in June Angel Reese a rookie for Chicago Sky stated that she will be joking about the new women’s basketball league ‘Unrivavled. This league will be a 3x3 basketball league and will have many WNBA stars like Napheesa Collier and Breanna Stewart. The league will start in January 2025 and will be held in Miami, Flordia.  

Angel Reese was the 10th player from WNBA which will play in the league. So far 30 players have been picked for the league. On Wednesday during the Chicago Sky practice session Angel Reese spoke with the reports, she said, "I mean, being able to be... in Miami from January to March, not having to go overseas, I never planned on going overseas." "So that already sparked me."

"So being able to make... six figures [in Miami] in three months... just being able to get better at 3 on 3 is something that I love to do. I haven't been able to play [3 on 3] competitively, but I think I can be able to work on some of my individual skills by being able to play because 3 on 3 exposes everything," according to Women’s Fastbreak.

Many stars will join the league

Angel Reese is referring to yearly WNBA individual wages (which average around $120,000 in 2024), which means that some players spend their winter competing in professional leagues abroad to make extra money. Unrivaled, on the other hand, will purportedly pay all of its players double the average WNBA salary with some of the league's top stars earning much more. This eliminates the need for players like Reese to spend the offseason playing outside of America.

Basketball 3x3 Olympians like Jackie Young, Rhyne Howard, and Kelsey Plum will also contribute their skills to the league. With so many elite players joining Unrivaled, women's basketball will have a strong platform. Seeing Reese compete for Unrivaled in the early months of 2025 will be intriguing. It will be intriguing to watch whether she is joined there by any other WNBA newcomers.
