After a historic run at the narrow circuits of Monte Carlo, the Formula 1 caravan is set to hit the North American continent, as teams and drivers have reached Montreal for the Canadian Grand Prix. The previous race in Monaco saw Charles Leclerc secure an emotional and long-awaited victory in front of his home crowd.

He became the first Monegasque driver to stand atop the podium in Monaco in the F1 world championship era. Additionally, it marked the first time in F1 history that the top 10 finished in the same order they started.

As the championship now heads across the Atlantic to Canada for the ninth round of the 2024 season, Red Bull's Max Verstappen leads the drivers' standings by 32 points over Leclerc. However, weather conditions this weekend are expected to play a significant role in the proceedings.

Here is the weather forecast for Canadian GP:

Friday, June 7: FP1 & FP2

The first day of the race weekend is forecasted to experience thundery showers and light winds throughout the day. There is a 70% chance of rain during the first practice session (FP1), potentially leading to a wet track for the rest of the day.

For the second practice session (FP2), a 58% chance of rain remains, suggesting continuous wet conditions. Temperatures are anticipated to hover around 22 degrees Celsius (71.6 degrees Fahrenheit), which could lead to a quick drying track for the drivers.

Saturday, June 8: FP3 & Qualifying

Saturday's weather will mirror Friday's, with a 50% chance of rain during the third practice session (FP3) and a slightly lower 40% chance of rain during the crucial qualifying session. The temperature is expected to peak at 21 degrees Celsius (69.8 degrees Fahrenheit) but could be as low as 18 degrees Celsius during FP3.

Sunday, June 9: Race

Race day offers the lowest possibility of rain compared to the preceding days, with a 30-40% chance of precipitation during the race. Light winds from the southwest are anticipated, and temperatures will likely be around 20 degrees Celsius (68 degrees Fahrenheit).

As teams and drivers prepare for a potentially unpredictable weekend, the variable weather conditions could significantly influence the strategies and outcomes of the Canadian GP. Fans and teams alike will be keeping a close eye on the skies over Montreal, hoping for a thrilling and fair race.
