The year 2020 was the most important year for Formula 1 as it faced one of the toughest times during a race in the Bahrain Grand prix. The good thing is it survived the challenges. We are talking about the F1's most dangerous crash which happened to Romain Grosjean at the Sakhir circuit.
Romain Grosjean, in his entire Formula 1 career, had many collisions and accidents as he tends to go too aggressive with the other drivers. But one incident was still a miracle for him to escape, which also tested Formula One’s safety standards. It is the biggest and the only reason for the French driver to be alive today.
Many drivers and teams who criticised the FIA’s introduction of the Halo kept their mouths shut after the Horrific incident in the 2020 Bahrain Grand Prix. The incident happened during the opening lap of the race Lewis Hamilton was in pole position alongside Verstappen in the front row.

The race was started and Grosjean and his Haas car were in the back end fighting with the Alpha Tauri. Danii Kvyat tried overtaking Grojean when his tyres touched the Haas car's right side. The French driver lost his direction and went straight to the Barriers.

In Formula 1 there are many instances when the drivers will hit the barriers and come back to the track crashing their cars. But this particular incident that happened in Bahrain was very unusual and can also be said one of a kind. The Haas car after crashing into the barriers split into two halves separating the driver's cockpit and the engine area. The fuel tank which is behind the driver's cockpit was exposed and immediately caught on fire.
The impact broke the barriers and Grosjean's cockpit was caught inside the barrier in an unusual angle. The racing suit which could withstand the fire for a minute started giving the French man some degree of burns and his burning helmet also made it hard for him to see anything.

The race was red-flagged immediately and the drivers were called into the pits and many worried about the condition of Grosjean inside the burning car. The safety car was on time and the race marshalls started to use the fire extinguisher aimed at the driver's cockpit and helped the driver.
The fire extinguisher gave some clearance to the driver as he could see some light and exited the cockpit safely, surviving the horrific crash. Even today, the incident gives shivers to many drivers as the accident was very huge and scary.
Everyone appreciated the Halo cockpit protection device which is the only reason Grosjean was alive to tell us about the fire accident. The Haas car that was completely burned and split in half was taken to the Formula 1 museum and was kept for the visitors to show FIA’s high safety standards.
