In a heart-stopping incident at the Canadian Grand Prix, Haas driver Nico Hulkenberg closely avoided a nasty collision with Yuki Tsunoda in Montreal. In the closing laps of the race, Yuki Tsunoda, along with his teammate Daniel Ricciardo, was eying on a double point for his team VCARB.

However, a silly mistake led Tsunoda into the grass and spun him onto the track within seconds. It forced other drivers to struggle to avoid any big crash. However, the biggest save was for Haas driver Nico Hulkenberg, whose amazing reflexes helped him to avoid a nasty Collison with Tsunoda.

Watch Hulkenberg’s amazing reflexes:

Speaking about it Nico Hulkenberg said, “I just don’t know. I tried to react, tried to stop and tried to avoid him, but it must have been by a few millimetres – it felt very, very close so I closed my eyes already bracing for the impact but managed somehow luckily to escape it.”

Yuki Tsunoda apologies to his team for the incident

The incident was very poor for the VCARB who had an opportunity to get some points and strengthen their position in the constructors’ championship. However, Tsunoda’s incident destroyed all plans as he crashed out.

However, realizing his mistake Yuki Tsunoda accepted it and apologized to his team. He said, “Today was my mistake, a stupid move, and I’m sorry to the team. They made the right decision about strategy and did a good job; it wasn’t easy on the old Inters but I was feeling okay.”

“Also, the call when to change to dry tyres was good. At least I turned it around from Free Practice to qualifying and that’s good, but today’s disappointing and not the way I should’ve finished the race. It was just about bringing it home.” It’s worth noting that VCARB has decided to extend Yuki Tsunoda’s contract for a year.
