As the 2024 Formula 1 season resumes with the Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort, Nico Hulkenberg faced a challenging day on the track. The second half of the season began with a dramatic turn of events for the German driver, whose performance was marred by a crash during the second practice session.

The incident occurred at the very beginning of FP2, where Nico Hulkenberg's car skidded into the barriers at Turn 1, triggering an immediate red flag. The crash halted the session, disrupting the flow of preparations for the upcoming race. Despite the severity of the situation, Hulkenberg emerged from the car without significant injury, thanks to the relatively gentle impact and the swift response from the marshals.

A poor FP1 too for Hulkenberg!

Earlier in the day, Nico Hulkenberg had already shown signs of struggle. During FP1, he had an off-track moment at Turn 10, where he ran wide and slid through the gravel. Although he managed to continue just to lose control twice more.

However, the adverse conditions at Zandvoort posed a challenge for all drivers. But the recurring issues for Hulkenberg were further highlighted when he encountered another setback in FP2, this time involving what appeared to be a brake problem. His inability to control the car and the subsequent crash raised concerns about potential mechanical issues affecting his performance.

The problems were compounded for Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz, who also experienced technical difficulties. Sainz was forced to withdraw from FP2 due to a gearbox issue, adding to the list of setbacks for the weekend.
