The 2024 F2 Belgian GP Sprint Race was nothing short of a spectacle, and Kimi Antonelli's remarkable overtake was the highlight that left fans and commentators in awe. On a rain-soaked Saturday at Spa-Francorchamps, the young Mercedes prodigy showcased his exceptional skill and fearless driving, solidifying his reputation as a future star in motorsport.

The race weekend at Spa-Francorchamps, a track known for its challenging conditions and iconic corners, was the tenth in the Formula 2 calendar. The Sprint race, held on Saturday, witnessed a series of dramatic events, with Antonelli's overtake being the standout moment. The incident occurred early in the race, precisely on Lap 2, setting the stage for an intense competition.

Here is the video:

Jak Crawford initiated the action by boldly moving on Franco Colapinto to secure P5, placing the MP Motorsport driver in a precarious position. This manoeuvre left Colapinto vulnerable, and Antonelli seized the opportunity with impeccable timing and precision. As they approached the notorious Eau Rouge, Antonelli went side-by-side with Colapinto, a daring move that only the most skilled drivers could execute flawlessly.

Antonelli’s magnificent move at Spa

Down the Kemmel Straight, Kimi Antonelli's car seemed to glide through the rain, showcasing his mastery of wet conditions. He dived inside, positioned his vehicle perfectly, and completed the overtake, leaving spectators and fellow racers in admiration. This move was not just a display of bravery but also of strategic brilliance, as he capitalized on Colapinto's compromised position following Crawford's overtake.

However, the race was marred by heavy rain, which led to its suspension. The FIA initially deployed the Safety Car after Josep Maria Marti's car stopped on the track. As the rain intensified, the race was eventually red-flagged and concluded prematurely.

Zak O'Sullivan of ART Grand Prix claimed the victory, with Dennis Hauger and Richard Verschoor completing the podium. Due to the race not reaching 50% of its scheduled distance, only the top five drivers received points.

Despite the challenging conditions, Antonelli's performance was commendable. He finished the race in P6, ahead of his Prema Racing teammate Oliver Bearman. This result maintained his sixth position in the championship standings with 85 points. Isack Hadjar, Red Bull's junior driver, continues to lead the championship with 140 points.
