In a dramatic turn of events on Lap 62 of the latest race, Max Verstappen's bid for a podium finish ended in a collision with Lewis Hamilton. As the drivers approached the final ten laps, Verstappen, closing in on Hamilton, sought to overtake the Mercedes driver for third place.

Verstappen attempted to manoeuvre around Hamilton on the outside, but Hamilton effectively blocked the move, running wide in a manoeuvre that appeared to be within the regulations. However, the situation quickly escalated when Max Verstappen made contact with Hamilton’s front wing on Lap 63.

Here is the video:

The impact caused Verstappen to slide off the track, with his car lifting momentarily before he was overtaken by Charles Leclerc. Carlos Sainz also closed in on the stricken Red Bull.

Will Max Verstappen face penalties?

Race control immediately took note of the incident, but Hamilton managed to continue without significant damage. Meanwhile, the Red Bull team expressed dissatisfaction with Verstappen’s situation, suggesting that the attempt to pass Hamilton might not have been entirely fair. There is ongoing speculation that Max Verstappen could face repercussions for the collision, with discussions about a potential penalty still in the air.
