The FP1 session was affected by severe rain, making it difficult for MotoGP riders to find grip on the track. Marquez started his session in the rain and was pushing hard for the fastest lap time. In Turn 2, he lost the rear and suffered a massive high side.
He was thrown off the bike into the air, landing hard on the ground before sliding into the runoff area and then into the gravel. This marked his first-ever crash on a Ducati. Known for his spectacular crashes, the six-time world champion quickly got back on his feet.
The Ducati garage was in complete shock as they witnessed Marquez crash for the first time in their colors. Despite the severity of the crash, he emerged unscathed. The bike wasn’t significantly damaged, as the rain and wet conditions helped minimize repair costs.

Aprilia Racing rider Marco Bezzecchi also had a similar crash, but his incident occurred before the ‘Esses.’ The reigning world champion, Jorge Martin, was present at the Aprilia garage, watching as his teammate Bezzecchi crashed during the session.
Bezzecchi’s bike damage is also limited as the wet conditions saved the day. But it was also a huge crash as he landed on his feet before hitting the ground. Many riders lost traction due to their rear’s slipping in the rain. Aprilia won the 2024 Americas GP with Maverick Vinales, and let us see if they can win it again this year with Bezzecchi.
The rain has stopped, but we expect to have some of it before the practice session later today. Currently, Ducati is leading the team standings, while Marc Marquez is leading the riders' points table. We also expect reigning world champion Jorge Martin to return in the next race.
