Red Bull has officially announced that Liam Lawson will be their new driver for the 2025 Formula 1 season alongside Max Verstappen. After the announcement, the New Zealander became the trend and started giving interviews everywhere.
In one interview he revealed the real story of what happened between his new teammate Max Verstappen and George Russell during the dinner meeting before the start of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. The British driver and the Dutchman had some verbal battle after the Qatar Grand prix race due to an on-track incident during the final qualifying session.
Russell was on his out lap to set the fastest lap time when he was suddenly interrupted by Max Verstappen doing his slowdown lap. The British driver evaded a big accident on time but lost some lap time there. After the session, he complained to the stewards that Max was doing that on purpose to slow him down, which Max did not take very well.
After coming out of the steward's room Max and Russell had a heated argument which George thought was complete bullying. He then spoke to the media during the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. Before the start of the final race in Abu Dhabi, the drivers had a dinner meeting for the final time of the year.
Many fans are curious to know what happened between Max and George. Liam Lawson has now revealed the truth about what happened on that day. He was talking to a podcast where he was asked questions about that incident.

Lawson said “Tables were filling up on the opposite side of Max and there were only three tables left on the side of Max. Russell still didn't turn up to this point, we wanted George to sit right next to Max so we are filling all the other tables.
We were saving a spot right next to Max and when Russell came Max Verstappen invited him ‘Mate we have saved a seat for you’ but George picked up the chair walked to the other end of the side and sat with Lewis Hamilton. We thought it was funny but it wasn’t funny for him.” Everyone wants to end the beef between Max and George in Abu Dhabi but the Brit wasn't willing to end that this year. Maybe it get sorted out slowly as Max Verstappen said in an interview.
