The Austrian Grand Prix is going to start in just 4 days and it is certainly going to be a race that everyone will be looking forward to. This is one of the most iconic venues in the Formula One season which has given us some great moments and great performances to look forward to.

There is no doubt that there have been some thrilling races in the past in this race which have led to some legendary moments, but there have also been some heart-stopping moments as well. A sport full of thrill and speed can also lead to some major accidents on the track. The accident of the legendary Niki Lauda was one of those moments that was a life and death moment for the driver. We will be talking about one similar incident in the Austrian Open as well.

The Raikkonen and Alonso collision

The year was 2015 and this was also one of the most iconic races where we saw a surprising performance from Nico Rosberg who went on to win the iconic race beating his teammate and in-form driver Lewis Hamilton. This was also the day when we saw a dangerous collision between two champion drivers in Fernando Alonso and Kimi Raikkonen. Fernando Alonso was one of the top drivers for McLaren whereas Raikkonen was the top racer for Ferrari and was involved in one of the most devastating collisions that you could ever see. This frightened both the teams that were worried about the safety of the drivers in this horrible accident that took place.

This race might have not caused much serious damage to the racers in the end, but it eventually led to both the racers retiring from the Austrian GP that season. This was one of the moments we might have almost lost two great drivers on the day. We are happy to know that both the former World Champions survived this entanglement that could've caused a lot more damage if possible.
