Fernando Alonso lashes out at Aston Martin, asks to 'talk less and deliver more'

Fernando Alonso has just 41 points after the first ten races of the season compared to 137 points in 2023. Notably, Barcelona was his third pointless race in the last four Grand Prix of the ongoing season.

The Spanish Grand Prix has been a disappointment for Aston Martin driver and local boy Fernando Alonso. The two-time world champion failed to get a single point at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya as he finished 12th while Lance Stroll finished 14th.

It was his third pointless race in the last four Grand Prix. He has just 41 points after the first ten races of the season compared to 137 points in 2023. This decline in performance and competitiveness has left Alonso Fuming as he wants his team to ‘talk less and deliver more.’

"For sure it is disappointing as we didn't score any points, but we deserved not to score any points because we didn't have the pace the whole weekend," the two-time world champion told media after the race in Barcelona, Spain.

"In the race, it was extremely difficult as when you slide so much in the corners, you kill the tyres so you have two problems. You don't have the pace, plus you have a lot of degradation, so all in all, it was a very long race for us. We are missing pure load; it is frustrating but there is nothing that you can do now, but we cannot get too frustrated. It is time to work harder, to talk less and deliver more”, he further added.

Fernando Alonso expects more painful races!

As the latest upgrades of AMR24 failed to provide the expected boost in straights and turns of Barcelona, Alonso expects more painful races for the team. He said, "You start thinking about Austria immediately after the checkered flag and what you can do differently, but I think it will also be painful."

"It has some characteristics of Barcelona with the long corners and high-speed sections, so it will be tough, and also at Silverstone. We've been upgrading the car a lot, but we haven't delivered the results, so now it is a matter of whatever we bring to the track, it delivers what we expect and we will start to get better and better. We need to work hard, get better every race but without too much talk or over-promising,” added Alonso.
