Lando Norris dominates FP1 in Barcelona

The First session at Circuit de Barcelona Catalunya came up with significant challenges for drivers and teams. After two weeks of wet races in Monaco and Montreal Barcelona came up with severe heat conditions.

Drivers were asked by their teams to manage tyre temperature while going on a flying lap as it was affecting the grip. Drivers like Lewis Hamilton faced this issue on multiple occasions. However, McLaren’s Lando Norris avoided all this and finished fastest just two-tenth of a second ahead of Max Verstappen.

Carlos Sainz finished third while Mercedes driver George Russell took fourth position. Red Bull’s Sergio Perez improved his performance and finished fifth while Oscar Piastri completed his session with McLaren in sixth position.
