Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc once again showed he is the best driver at home during the 2025 Monaco GP. The Monegasque driver set the fastest lap time in the first free practice session, with Max Verstappen and Lando Norris behind him. The Monte Carlo circuit will test the driver's skills more as the narrow layout demands precision and performance. Even a small human error will cost teams big, as there is no chance of recovery in Moncao. One incident took place during the first free practice session between Leclerc and Stroll.

Unusual collision during the first free practice session

The Aston Martin driver was doing his warmup lap, and Leclerc was on his out lap. Stroll was nearing the Fairmont Hairpin, which is the slowest corner in the F1 calendar. Lance got informed by his race engineer on his radio about the two cars approaching behind. Stroll let the Mercedes car pass through, but didnt see Leclerc coming. In order to cut the hairpin corner, he has to go wide on the outside line, so Stroll went for it. Charles wasn't aware of Stroll’s move, and he collided on his back.

This collision has resulted in damage to the Ferrari’s front wing. Leclerc was heard on the radio saying Stroll wasn't aware of the blue flags. He later went to the garage to change to a new set of front wings. The Aston Martin driver went to the garage and was not seen for the entire session.

Monte Carlo is familiar with these kinds of incidents, and the popular hairpin is known for many such stories. We are expecting more drama like this in the next two days. Monaco is one of the oldest race tracks in the F1 calendar. Over the years, the size of Formula 1 cars has increased drastically, but the track remains the same, with only minor changes made, which is not enough. But that is the biggest challenge for the world’s best drivers, and it is the thing that makes the Monaco GP popular on the calendar.
