The Veteran was racing at the 2025 Dakar Rally’s second stage and suddenly his car flipped and crashed heavily on the desert sand. He was driving the Ford Raptor T1+ model and at the 327th kilometre of the race, he had a big incident. Carlos was driving along with his co-driver Lucas and they flipped multiple times on the dune before coming out of the wrecked car. Dakar Rally is the hardest of all motorsport as drivers don't get any support in the middle of the desert and they have to carry everything with them.

Massive crash for Carlos Sainz

Even if their car gets repaired they should do the mechanical work or leave the race. The Race is a test of skills rather than machines. The two drivers managed to carry on by removing the damaged parts and throwing them into the desert. The Dakar Rally Organization statement said “Carlos Sainz flipped his Ford Raptor at Km 327! Thankfully, the crew is unharmed and managed to get back on track, but the car took some heavy damage.”

The car was specially made for the Dakar rally carrying a V8 engine, Fox-tuned chassis and long durable suspension. The drivers lost 20 minutes because of the crash and continued the race. Carlos Sainz sr before starting the race posted on his social media about the challenging conditions of the second stage.

He said the 48-hour challenge will be more intense and he is all in for the challenge. But the accident caused him to lose more time in the race. They are the defending champions and want to find a way to retain their title this season. The race will finish on January 17th.
