Williams Racing driver Carlos Sainz made a funny blunder during the F1 Japanese Grand Prix FP1 session. As he entered the pit lane, he forgot his team and went straight to the end of the garage. Usually, in Formula 1, the team's pit will be based on their previous year's Championship results.

The top teams will be preferred on the front so they go to the end, but as they change their tyres, they will be the first one to have the exit. The teams that come last can change their tyres quickly, but they have to go through all the traffic in the pit lane and have their exit to the track.

Carlos Sainz's funny mistake

Carlos sainz was a Ferrari driver for the last four years, and his core muscle memory is still stuck with them. During the FP1 session, when he entered the pit lane, he forgot he is a Williams driver, so he went past their garage and headed towards Ferrari.

But his race engineer was quick to call him back to his garage. Sainz, realising his mistake, apologised to his team. But according to the regulations, a driver cannot reverse his car inside the pit lane. So, he reentered the track and again went into the pit lane.

Formula 1 drivers have everything stored in their muscle memory, making it very hard to forget. After spending many years with Ferrari, how could Sainz forget his old garage so soon? A similar incident happened with Lewis Hamilton in 2013 when he mistakenly went to the McLaren garage for a tire change.

Williams Racing is progressing well, with their two drivers, Alex Albon and Carlos Sainz, showing strong pace in all three races so far. The team is expected to lead the midfield this season and, in the coming years, could become one of the top teams in Formula 1. Carlos Sainz has played a significant role in their development and progress.
