Williams Racing driver Carlos Sainz was recently asked in a media interview about his potential future in Red Bull. The Spanish driver who was part of Red Bull’s junior driver programme has blasted at the speculations. The interviewer asked, “Red Bull are paying the price for not signing you (Sainz Laughs). What do you think about that? Is there a job for an experienced person in that second seat?” Sainz didn't hold back and immediately responded with what everyone expected.

Carlos replied, “What everyone says now is the toughest job in Formula 1 (Being Max Verstappen’s teammate). Obviously, next to Max. In a car that Max knows so well. I don't know what people are talking about. I guess it's a good thing for me.” Sainz added, “At the same time, I don't care because I'm in the place that I wanna be right now. I'm in a good place for my future, for myself, and I cannot wait to see where we can get with Williams.”

Max Verstappen and Carlos Sainz joined Formula 1 together for the Torro Rosso team (Now VCARB) under Red Bull's junior driver program. Max got a promotion, but Sainz saw no future inside the team. So, he moved to Renault and then to McLaren with Lando Norris. After Sebastian Vettel was sent out of Ferrari, Sainz was called for the job. He and Charles Leclerc were very successful for the Ferrari team, finishing on podiums and scoring consistent points.

When Ferrari signed Lewis Hamilton in 2024, Sainz got no job anywhere for the 2025 season. He had talks with Mercedes and Red Bull, who didn't confirm their driver lineup for the 2025 season. Mercedes spoke with Max Verstappen, but after he refused, they directly signed Kimi Antonelli, who was just 18 years old. Red Bull stuck with their same driver lineup of Sergio Perez and Max Verstappen till the 2027 season.

Sainz had no choice, so he spoke with mid-field teams like Haas, Alpine and Williams Racing. He was happy with Williams Racing's future plans and progress, so he decided to sign with the iconic Williams team over a multi-year deal. But disaster struck afterwards as Sergio's form went for a dive, and Red Bull sacked him from the team. There were rumours about Christian Horner going to the Williams garage over trading Sainz or Colapinto for the senior team.

But it's already late, so they decided to promote Liam Lawson to the senior team in a very short span of time. Despite Yuki Tsunoda's experience and talent, Red Bull's decision to promote Lawson has backfired now, as the Kiwi didn't score any points in the first two races and there is no sign of improvement from his side. They dropped him and brought Yuki Tsunoda into the team as the new driver, and he will drive for the team from the 2025 Japanese Grand Prix
