The Monaco-based Formula 1 driver was in Italy for shopping, and two unidentified suspects approached him and asked him for a selfie. Charles was kind enough to give them a selfie click, but later realised his costly Richard Mille watch was missing from his hands.

The luxury watch was exclusively made for him by the brand, as Ferrari and Richard Mille were in partnership. The two came on a scooter and eloped with his watch. Another two suspects in an SUV assisted their escape by accompanying the two thieves.

Charles Leclerc was chasing the suspects in his Ferrari Pista 488, and he also informed the police regarding the incident. The SUV that assisted the theft was also caught in the video. Leclerc is one of the most joyful and kind-hearted drivers on the grid.

This incident would have changed his perspective on people, and from then on, he has been more careful when giving selfies and interviews. The watches had a GPS tracker, and the police caught the suspects red-handed in Naples.

Police said, “During the course of the execution of the measure, delegated house searches were also carried out during which two valuable watches were found and seized - against one of the suspects, on whose provenance, currently unjustified, further investigations will be carried out.”

They took 2 more watches and 23,000 euros from their home, and one belonged to Charles. After the incident, his manager said, “Via Salvatori has been completely in the dark for months. We have been reporting this for months. Well, yesterday evening in Via Salvatori, they have robbed us. Think of arranging the street lights sooner or later? Asking for a friend.”
