We are just two months away from the 2025 Formula 1 season that starts in Australia at Albert Park in Melbourne. This year will be very special because Formula 1 steps into its 75th Anniversary and the organisers plan to launch all the 20 F1 cars simultaneously in London next month. But this year also marks the end of the hybrid era that started in 2014.

The Devil will come out.

From 2026 there will be new engine regulations and the cars will be very different to what they are today. So each F1 team will give absolutely everything they have and try to bring the best possible results for the team in 2025. Most importantly the top teams like McLaren, Ferrari, Red Bull and Mercedes will battle hard for the championship.

This year could also bring the devil out of the reigning world champion Max Verstappen because it will not be easy for him to win the championship just like in the last couple of years. Already McLaren and Ferrari are outpacing Red Bull while Mercedes are nearing them in terms of performance. Let us see what kind of troubles he may face this year that could unleash the devil inside him.

Closer battles

After the 2021 season, Max Verstappen became unstoppable and a winning machine. The Dutchman sets the fastest lap during qualifying and in the race after the lights are out he goes quickly and vanishes. It all changed last year when McLaren became the fastest car on the grid and Max had to fight it out with Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri for wins.

It also put him in an awkward situation to lose against the McLarens, so he started to drive aggressively by going closer to his challengers and sometimes damaging cars. Many journalists and F1 drivers criticised Verstappen for being too aggressive. In 2025, we expect him to do that more often as the title fight will be a close battle between the top four teams.

Fight with his old rival.

Max Verstappen’s biggest rival in Formula 1 is the 7-time world champion Lewis Hamilton. The Man was defeated by Verstappen 3 years ago at the Abu Dhabi GP which also made him the Formula 1 world champion for the first time. What’s the big deal? There is one. He is now a Ferrari driver and the Maranello team is looking stronger in pace and performance than Red Bull. They want to end their title drought with the strongest driver lineup on the grid by making Charles/Lewis work together.

On the other side Verstappen’s team, Red Bull announced young rookie Liam Lawson as his teammate. We don't know how Liam Lawson will drive a Red Bull car with less experience fighting the big heads. So Verstappen could again be challenged by Hamilton and this time he will be a lone warrior against the 7-time world champion. We expect to see a repeat of the old drama in the 2021 season.

5th Title a dream

Unlike his last four Formula 1 titles, Verstappen’s fifth title dream could also become a dream considering his rivals. Look at Lando Norris, Charles Leclerc, George Russell, Lewis Hamilton and Oscar Piastri. All wanted to become Formula 1 world champions and they will do everything to win the title. Verstappen’ on the other hand has won Four consecutive F1 championships and it could also have drained him a little bit.

Most of his rivals are waiting for their first world championship, so their hunger and aggression will be greater than Max's. But when it comes to winning races you won't see a better driver than Max and who can forget his heroics in Brazil last year? He will give everything to defend his championship for the fifth time and script his name alongside the great Michael Schumacher. Max could achieve the 5 titles in a row feat that Sebastian Vettel and Lewis Hamilton missed in their careers.
