The Canadian Grand Prix was one of the most competitive weekends of the ongoing Formula 1 season. With Max Verstappen winning the race and Lando Norris and George Russell completing the podium Merecedes were relatively faster than McLaren.

However, after the race, both team principals Toto Wolff and Andrea Stella have hinted that Mercedes and McLaren will bring more upgrades in upcoming weeks. After the race, Stella said that they would bring some individual upgrades to Spain.

While speaking with Autosport he said, "For the coming races, we will have some upgrades, but they won't be a single kind of big upgrade like we have seen over the last 12 months. This is more some individual components where we found a little bit of performance and rather than waiting to deploy everything together once ready, we take it trackside.”

Mercedes to bring more upgrades in Spain – Toto Wolff

On the other hand, Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff had a great run in Canada. His drivers finished third and fourth on track and were looking amazing. However, Wolff revealed that Mercedes will bring more upgrades to Spain and will aim to improve its performance.

While speaking to media he said, “I think when you finish third and fourth from where we have been coming from, then it’s a positive race. Three and four is much better than we had previously in the last few races, so that’s good.”

“But I think both drivers saw that more was up possible to achieve. We could have maybe gained a position or two, and that’s why there is a kind of negative sentiment that pervades. But if you would have given them third and fourth before the weekend, we probably would have taken it.”

“I think definitely since Imola we’ve taken the right steps and put parts on the car that were working. That is something that we have been struggling with in the past couple of years. We have some new parts coming in Barcelona. That should help us. So, I would very much hope that we can continue this positive trajectory,” he concluded.
