Spanish Grand Prix 2024: Lewis Hamilton dominates while Max Verstappen continues to struggle, check FP2 highlights

Sainz finished second by clocking 1:13.286 on the time sheet. FP1’s fastest car Lando Norris finished third behind Hamilton and Sainz with a gap of +0.055 seconds to the race leader. In a surprising move, Alpine driver Pierre Gasly finished FP2 with the fourth fastest time as he clocked just +0.179 seconds more than the race leader.
Regening World Champion Max Verstappen continued his struggle in understeering Red Bull as he finished 5th fastest with a gap of +0.240 to Hamilton. Another Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc finished sixth.
Lando Norris had dominated FP1!
The first session at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya presented significant challenges for drivers and teams due to severe heat after two weeks of wet races in Monaco and Montreal. Drivers were instructed to manage tyre temperatures, impacting grip, with Lewis Hamilton facing issues multiple times.
However, McLaren’s Lando Norris excelled, finishing fastest, just two-tenths of a second ahead of Max Verstappen. Carlos Sainz took third, Mercedes' George Russell placed fourth, and Red Bull’s Sergio Perez improved to finish fifth. Oscar Piastri completed the session for McLaren in the sixth position.
