Simone Ashley, celebrated for her performance as Kate Sharma in Bridgerton, is set to make a significant impact in the world of motorsport cinema with her role in the forthcoming film F1. The film, directed by Joseph Kosinski—famed for his work on Top Gun: Maverick—is set to feature Ashley alongside a stellar lineup that includes Brad Pitt and Damson Idris.

The announcement of Ashley's involvement came amidst the filming of F1 during the British Grand Prix. Ashley was seen alongside Idris over the weekend, fueling excitement among fans. Her role in the movie is being kept under wraps, adding an air of mystery and anticipation to her participation.

F1 follows the story of Sonny Hayes, played by Brad Pitt, a former Formula 1 driver who returns to the sport to mentor a rookie named Joshua Pearce, portrayed by Damson Idris. The film’s unique approach involves shooting during actual Grand Prix weekends, providing an authentic backdrop as the fictional team, APXGP.

How is Lewis Hamilton attached to the project?

The film boasts a remarkable ensemble cast, including Kerry Condon, Javier Bardem, Tobias Menzies, Sarah Niles, and Samson Kayo. Ashley's addition to this impressive lineup further elevates the film's appeal.

The release of the first teaser for F1 during the British Grand Prix, which saw Lewis Hamilton clinch a victory, also marked a significant moment. Hamilton, a seven-time Formula 1 world champion, is not only starring in the film but also co-producing it through his company, Dawn Apollo Films.

Produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, Chad Oman, Brad Pitt, Dede Gardner, Jeremy Kleiner, and Lewis Hamilton, F1 is a collaboration between Apple Studios and Formula 1. With a screenplay by Ehren Kruger, the film is set to premiere internationally on June 25, 2025, with a North American release following on June 27, 2025, distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures.
