Formula 1 team Aston Martin F1 surprised us with a new team principal appointment as Mike Krack, who will pave the way for Andy Cowell. He will now take a new position as chief trackside officer. The announcement was shocking as most fans didn't expect it coming this early before the season.
Andy Cowell, who was behind Mercedes Powertrains all these years, recently joined Aston Martin in the middle of the 2024 season. Cowell will now head the team which has Fernando Alonso and Adrian Newey. Mike Krack was the Team principal and under him, they fell to seventh in 2022 and rose to fifth place in the 2023 and 2024 seasons. Krack showed huge improvement and for his contributions, and he will be the trackside head for the 2025 season.
The AMR23 car is the best car produced by Aston Martin and it achieved many podiums which was the biggest reason behind Alonso’s Motivation to continue in Formula 1. But, 2024 was an average year as the AMR 24 is less competitive and could not win any podiums.

This year, they are looking much stronger at least on paper and technical aspects. They have Mike Krack as the chief Trackside head, Cowell as Team Boss, and Enrico Cardile as the lead of design and build who will be working under the greatest car designer Adrian Newey. The veteran car designer joined the team last year and will be the managing technical partner for the team. He previously worked at Williams, McLaren and Red Bull as the design head and produced 13 championship-winning cars, including Max Verstappen’s recent 4th championship-winning car.
Fernando Alonso is looking to end his Formula 1 career with a third title and believes working with Adrian newey will help him do that great achievement. For all these years, Adrian Newey and Alonso competed with each other and were the biggest rivals. If he wins, it will be the first-ever Formula 1 title for Aston Martin and Alonso will also become the oldest Formula 1 world champion.
