The Mercedes Team had one of the worst US Grand Prix in recent years. From start to end Mercedes faced many worse issues in their car. But they get some relief with George Russell scoring some valuable points despite Lewis Hamilton’s crash during the race. But off the track, the two drivers seem to be enjoying their weekend. Lewis Hamilton who is moving to Ferrari next year is having some funny moments with his teammate George Russell during a promotional event at the US GP.

Mercedes drivers banter off the track

Speaking about Kimi Antonelli the Italian who is the Mercedes driver next year replacing Lewis Hamilton, George Russell called him a ‘Kid’. After hearing this Lewis Hamilton took a jab at George Russell and said “You're saying kid, You can't say kid, You’re just a little older than him.”

George Russell replied, “I’m 26.”

Lewis Hamilton: "I can call you a kid 'cause im way ahead."

George Russell: "Mr Grand dad over here….no no no no…”

Lewis Hamilton: “Trust me when you get to my age, you’ll be grey already.”

George Russell: “I need to know your secret.”

Lewis Hamilton: “Black don't crack.”

George Russell: “I’ve got more wrinkles and more grey hair than this guy over here.”

Mercedes is having a very tough 2024 season as they are number 4 in the constructors championship. In terms of pace, they are very far behind Red Bull, McLaren and Ferrari. Mercedes were not even in championship contention this year. Lewis Hamilton who faced several issues during the weekend didn't complete the race due to a crash. He is standing sixth in the championship with 177 points ahead of his teammate George Russell who is seventh with 167 points.

Russell was forced to start from the pit lane after a Parc ferme breach due to repair. His car crashed heavily during the qualifying so it needed good care from the mechanics. According to FIA these kind of incidents automatically implies a pitlane start. But despite all the odds the British racer finished sixth at the end of the race.
