This commemorative item serves not only as a nod to Ayrton Senna's profound legacy but also as a celebration of his enduring influence on Formula 1, cherished by fans worldwide, especially in Brazil. Senna's impressive record includes six pole positions at his home Grand Prix, a statistic that remains unmatched by any other driver, with a notable legacy at both Sao Paulo and the Jacarepaguá circuit. He is celebrated not just for his talent but also for the deep connection he forged with Brazilian fans, making him an emblematic figure in the country’s sporting history.
Michael Schumacher dominates the Interlagos!
Interestingly, while Alain Prost holds the record for the most wins in Brazil with six victories, only one of these was achieved in Sao Paulo. In contrast, Michael Schumacher boasts the most wins at this circuit, having crossed the finish line first four times.
In terms of pole positions, Senna shares the record of six with fellow Brazilian drivers Felipe Massa and Rubens Barrichello, as well as international stars Mika Hakkinen and Lewis Hamilton. On the team front, McLaren leads the tally with eleven wins at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix, although Ferrari holds the overall record for victories at this venue with nine.
The upcoming race will also see significant changes to the Interlagos track. Following a complete resurfacing of the 4.309-kilometre circuit, including the pit lane, the asphalt has been thoroughly cleaned to enhance its grip and performance. This ensures that drivers will experience a refreshed racing surface, contributing to the excitement of the event.
