This car could be the highest-paid Schumacher car ever. The 2006 Ferrari 248 is one of the eight cars specially built for Schumacher at ferrari. It is also one of the four ferrari cars driven by Schumacher to record five or more wins. Schumacher won the races held at San Marino, European, United States, French and German Grand Prix with this car. He also broke Ayrton Senna’s Pole position record with that car at the 2006 German Grand Prix.
The organizers of the auction said “There are cars that Schumacher drove and perhaps won a race or two in, and then there are the few cars that truly define his legacy. Such as chassis 254. There is only one other chassis with more wins than classic 254.” Michael Schumacher lost his championship to Fernando Alonso who raced for Renault in 2006 by 13 points. But it is the last year of Michael Schumacher in Ferrari before announcing his retirement which makes the car very special and price expectations are high for that car.
Before this, the F2003 chassis 229 which he drove in the year 2003 went for auction in 2022 for 15 million dollars and is the highest ever price paid for a Schumacher car at the auction. He won seven races with that car and also his sixth world title in Formula 1. The 2006 Ferrari which Michael drove was the first modern car with a V8 engine. FIA introduced new engine regulations in 2006 so the old V10 engine cars were dropped after the 2005 season. But even if it beats the Previous record of Schumacher car it will still not be the highest-paid F1 car.
The highest-paid F1 car record belongs to Fangio’s 1954 Mercedes Benz W196R which went for 19.6 million euros. For Modern F1 car, the highest-paid F1 car belongs to Lewis Hamilton's 2014 Mercedes car which sold for 18.8 million US dollars in November 2023. Lewis Hamilton replaced Michael Schumacher in Mercedes for the 2013 season and he won his first title with the team in 2014 after new engine regulations. Next year he will be racing for Ferrari and his first race for the Italian team will be the 2025 Australian Grand Prix.
