Oscar Piastri took a funny dig at Lance Stroll after the Italian Grand Prix. The McLaren driver had a good chance of finishing the race as the winner at one point. However, due to some unnecessary slowdown in some instances due to the mistakes of other drivers, he could not finish the race as the winner. In the post-match presentation, Oscar claimed Stroll was driving the car as if it was a go-cart race.

The McLaren driver claimed that his start for the race was great where he was catching about two seconds a lap. He added that Stroll had a negative impact on his timing with his slow driving. He felt it cost him a couple of seconds. The star driver finished the race in the second place. He was distressed by the fact that he could finish the race as the winner.

"With the pace I had at the start, I think I was catching nearly two seconds a lap. Had a few people that weren’t very helpful. Lance Stroll was driving like he was in his first go-kart race, so that cost a couple of seconds," said Oscar Piastri. The star driver added that they had to get everything right in the last few seconds to win the race and accepted the challenge in front of him.

'It was a big risk to do that' - Oscar Piastri on one-stop

"Just a bit painful. But I think we pretty much needed everything to go right on the last set of hards and just ultimately wasn’t quite enough," added Piastri. When asked if he considered one-stop Piastri said "Clearly not as seriously as I needed to." The runner-up of the Italian Grand Prix felt it was risky and claimed the graining of the tyres wasn't ideal.

"I think, for me, it was a big risk to do that. You know, the graining of the tyres has been a big topic all weekend. In practice, once you got graining, it was basically game over. Even in the first stint on the mediums, it was pretty difficult," added Piastri.
