Max Verstappen opened up on losing the Miami Grand Prix 2024 to Lando Norris. After the race, Max was in the press conference along with Norris of McLaren and Charles Leclerc of Ferrari who finished first and third respectively. As Verstappen finished second for the first time in the year, questions were raised about his performance in the Grand Prix.

It is worth noting that Norris used a safety car to his advantage which helped him to claim a win. The reporters pointed out the fact in the press conference and asked the Dutch if it would have affected his loss. Max had a no-nonsense reply to it and believed that ifs and buts do not matter in sports. Crediting his friend Norris, Verstappen had a funny take on the regard which cracked the fans and the reporters.

"It's always if, if, if, if my mum had b***s, she'd be my dad," said Max as he felt that ifs and buts do not matter at the end of the day. Verstappen credited Lando Norris for his performance, who finished the race 7.6 seconds before Verstappen claimed a major win. "I mean that's how it goes in racing, some times it works, sometimes it doesn't," said an animated Max after the tour.

Max Verstappen unaffected in rankings

Though Max lost the first race of the year, it does not impact anything in the table of the drivers. He still has a lead of 33 points over the second-best candidate, Sergio Perez, who is also from Red Bull. It is a great year already for the star driver as he has won all but the Miami Grand Prix. Even in this race, he finished second. The Red Bull driver is at the peak of his career.

In 2024, he started all races in the first grid showing how good he has been with consistent performances. He won all of the Bahrain Grand Prix, the Saudi Arabia Grand Prix, the Japanese Grand Prix, and the Chinese Grand Prix. Max could not take part in the Australian Grand Prix. In 5 races in the year so far, he has a total of a whopping 120 points and is looking good to have a great year.
