The next Red Bull driver conversation has created a rift in the Verstappen family between father and son. The Father Verstappen wants Liam Lawson to replace Sergio Perez in Red Bull next season. However, the junior wanted no change in his teammates next year.
Verstappen is potentially one race win away from winning his fourth Formula 1 title at the next race in the Las Vegas GP. The Red Bull driver made a strong presence for this year's championship after winning most of the races in the first half of the season.
After the second half, Red Bull lost their form and Max was winless for 10 races before making a Himalayan comeback in the Brazilian Grand Prix after missing out on qualifying and getting a grid penalty. However, Max Verstappen’s teammate Sergio Perez was not in his prime as he was facing severe issues with his car and struggling to score points. Many suggest Sergio Perez should be replaced with other drivers like Franco Colapinto, Yuki Tsunoda, and Liam Lawson.
Even Max Verstappen's father and former Formula 1 driver Jos Verstappen was very welcoming when asked about Liam Lawson replacing Checo next year. Even in Brazil Sergio’s car didn't have any issues and they missed a big opportunity of finishing on the podium and getting some constructor's points.

Max and Jos are at odds
Max Verstappen openly supported his teammate Sergio Perez for staying in Red Bull. The three-time champion said Perez was a great guy and a great racer. He also wanted some stability within the team. Max said, “I want of course checo to be my teammate. He’s a great guy, we get on well, plus he’s really a great racer."
The senior Verstappen is at odds with the statement from the junior. When asked about Lawson for Red Bull next year Jos said, “I think Lawson is doing very well. It seems logical to me that he is ready to step up. Let him finish this season and build confidence and then the team has to decide what they do for next year."
"I certainly don't oppose that. It's better if there is someone who is competitive and pushes Max forward a bit. That always helps, but we'll see,” Red Bull chief advisor Helmut Marko said the team will decide on Sergio Perez's future after this season.
Liam Lawson and Sergio Perez were not having good times on the race track. Lawson was very hard on Sergio Perez during the Mexico GP as he showed his middle finger to Checo when overtaking. He also collided with Perez and damaged his floor at the same race.
