Max Verstappen recently won his 64th Grand Prix race at the Suzuka circuit. Nobody expected Red Bull to win the Japanese Grand Prix, and even Max said it himself during the post-race interview. The four-time world champion got fed up with the car after Friday's practice session. But the Red Bull Mechanics worked tirelessly overnight to make the car better for qualifying.

The Dutch lion set the fastest lap, beating the two McLaren drivers, Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri. He even broke the record of former Formula 1 world champion Sebastian Vettel, who set the lap record at Suzuka in 2019. His pole lap was called one of the greatest ever laps, as his car was not even the fastest on the grid. The RB21 has many balance issues, which make the car hard to drive. But considering the circumstances, what Max has achieved is nearly superhuman.

His team strategy also helped him big time as he pitted on the same lap as Lando Norris. The two rivals nearly raced on the pit exit, where Lando went into the grass while trying to overtake Max on the inside line. The FIA didn’t take any action because Max Verstappen kept his line clean, and it was Lando who ran himself into the grass.

Post-race, Verstappen said, If he was on the other car (McLaren), nobody would have even seen him.” The Red Bull driver was saying that if he had the fastest car on the grid, then nobody would have caught him, and he would have been out of sight. Max Verstappen now has four victories in Suzuka, equalling Sebastian Vettel.

Beating Michael Schumacher’s record

The Dutch driver now broke an unbelievable record set by his uncle Michael Schumacher with this Japanese Grand Prix win. He also beat his uncle Michael Schumacher with this year's Japanese GP win, as Schumacher is the only driver to win three in a row at the Suzuka circuit. The German driver won the Japanese Grand Prix from 2000 to 2002. Max has now won the Japanese race for four consecutive years from 2022 to 2025.
