Max Verstappen, and Carlos Alcaraz nominated for 2025 Laureus world sportsman of the year

Formula 1 driver Max Verstappen and Tennis star Carlos Alcaraz were nominated for the 2025 Laureus World Sportsman of the Year Award. The two athletes are the best in F1 and tennis. They were nominated alongside other young talents like Swimmer Leon Marchand, Tadei Pogacar and Athlete Mondo Duplantis.

Max Verstappen previously won the award in 2022 for his incredible title win during the 2021 F1 season. He was again nominated in the 2023 and 2024 seasons but missed out. But for the fourth year in a row, he is again nominated for his outstanding 2024 season. In the 2024 F1 season, Verstappen had the third-fastest car next to McLaren and Ferrari. But his excellent driving skills and pressure-handling ability helped him win the 2024 title against all the odds. His Brazilian Grand Prix win under heavy rain is regarded as one of the greatest ever victories in Formula 1.

Carlos Alcaraz already has 4 grand slam titles except the Australian Open title. Last year was an amazing season for the tennis star as he won the French Open title and defended his Wimbledon title against Djokovic. He reached the Olympic Men's Gold Medal match and faced his Wimbledon final opponent, Novak Djokovic. Unfortunately, he failed to win gold for his country and even cried on the court.

Alcaraz then won the Masters 1000 title at Indian Wells and ended the year as No. 3 in the ATP world rankings next to Jannik Sinner and Alexander Zverev.Alcaraz is facing some injury concerns that are stopping him from playing to his full potential. Max Verstappen is also having some issues with his Red Bull car. But it won't stop them from achieving and making it big as they will continue their dominance in their respective fields. 

Max is the most successful athlete from Belgium, and Alcaraz is the second most successful tennis player from Spain, after Rafael Nadal. Max Verstappen is now 27 years old, and Carlos Alcarz is 23, and they still have more time left in their career. Winning this kind of prestigious award will boost their confidence and winning mentality.
