Max Vertsappen put on a wonderful race for the Red Bull Racing team at the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne. The Dutchman was wonderful with his pace and car control as he finished on P2 next to the race winner Lando Norris after starting from P3. The two were joined by Mercedes driver George Russell, who also had a brilliant weekend at the Albert Park circuit.
After the race, the three were on the podium congratulating each other. The biggest thing during the 2025 Australian Grand Prix podium celebration was the chat between Max Verstappen and George Russell. Last year was unforgettable for both drivers, as the two friends had a verbal duel because of a misconception after the 2024 Qatar Grand Prix qualifying. The drivers accused each other, and post that incident, there were no relationship between the two.
Max on his relationship with George Russell
This year, as they ended up on the podium together, they are forced to do the race rituals like going together to the podium, having press meets and celebrating the win. After the race, the three went for the winner's press conference, and Max was asked a big question regarding his relationship with George.
As soon as the question was asked, the three drivers started laughing at each other, and Max Verstappen was also thinking what to answer immediately. The reigning F1 world champion, after thinking for some time, said, “It’s still shockingly bad. I mean, it's so good…. So good!”
During the last season, Max verstappen had a huge title fight with Lando Norris and McLaren. But nobody thought it would end up with George Russell, as the two were very close, and they often play pickle ball in their free time.
Even this year at the F1 75th anniversary celebration, George Russell was asked about his relationship with Max verstappen. The british driver answered that he never talked with verstappen after that incident. But now Max says the relationship between the two was so good, and we hope they keep the relationship the same throughout the year.
