Lando Norris showcased impressive form during the second free practice session ahead of the Singapore Grand Prix, finishing on top of the timing sheets at the Marina Bay Circuit. The McLaren driver clocked a fastest lap of 1:30.727, setting the pace and sending a clear message to his rivals as they gear up for Sunday's race.
Norris' performance in FP2 was not only fast but crucial, as it came during the most representative practice session of the weekend. The session provided teams with valuable data about track conditions, tyre performance, and race simulations under Singapore's challenging night conditions.
Trailing closely behind Norris was Ferrari's Charles Leclerc, who put in a strong showing and missed out on the top spot by just 0.058 seconds. Leclerc’s lap of 1:30.785 was fast enough to keep him in contention for pole position, adding to Ferrari’s competitive prospects for the weekend.
Yuki Tsunoda continues to impress!
Carlos Sainz, Leclerc’s teammate, finished third but was significantly off the leading pace. With a lap time of 1:31.356, Sainz found himself over six-tenths slower than Norris, suggesting that Ferrari still has some work to do to catch up to McLaren.
Yuki Tsunoda, driving for VCARB, surprised many by finishing fourth with a time of 1:31.468. The Japanese driver outpaced several top contenders, including Red Bull's Max Verstappen, who could only manage 15th place. McLaren’s Oscar Piastri rounded out the top five, completing a strong showing for the team.
One of the major talking points from FP2 was the struggle of the top-tier drivers. Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton could only secure 11th place with a lap of 1:31.709, while championship leader Max Verstappen, who has been dominant throughout the season, finished 15th. Verstappen's time of 1:32.021 raised eyebrows, as both Red Bull drivers failed to make it into the top five.
