McLaren and Alpine reveal striking new liveries

Formula 1 fans can expect an eye-catching spectacle at this weekend's United States Grand Prix, as McLaren and Alpine reveal striking new liveries for the race at the Circuit of the Americas (COTA). Both teams are stepping up their game on the track and in terms of aesthetics, unveiling unique designs that tie into larger branding efforts.

McLaren, known for its signature papaya-coloured cars, will debut a sleek chrome livery for the US GP. This retro-inspired design is a nod to the team’s history, evoking memories of their chrome look from previous years. In collaboration with one of their main sponsors, Google, the Woking-based squad's MCL38 will showcase the chrome colours, symbolizing nostalgia and innovation.

This marks McLaren’s fourth livery change of the 2024 season, following their emoji-themed car in Japan, a Senna tribute in Monaco, and a white livery that took Lando Norris to victory in Singapore. McLaren's creative approach to liveries in 2024 has kept fans intrigued throughout the season.

A museum-worthy livery for Alpine F1!

Meanwhile, Alpine is also set to turn heads with an entirely different concept. The French team will run predominantly orange liveries to promote the upcoming Indiana Jones and the Great Circle video game. This marks the first time a Formula 1 team has used a livery specifically designed for a video game launch, in partnership with Xbox.

The game’s logos and iconic graphics will adorn the Alpine A524, while drivers Pierre Gasly and Esteban Ocon will wear specially designed race suits for the event. Alpine has already showcased a variety of liveries this season, including a red design to promote Deadpool and Wolverine at the Belgian Grand Prix and their pink liveries, a staple of their collaboration with sponsor BWT.

However, this latest livery marks a bold shift toward tapping into gaming culture, a growing area of interest for F1's younger fan base. The special designs from both McLaren and Alpine are sure to add excitement to an already highly anticipated race weekend in Austin, bringing flair to the battle on the track.
