Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc has offered his perspective on the incident involving Lando Norris during the final free practice session ahead of the Spanish Grand Prix. The incident occurred as both drivers approached Turn 7, resulting in a minor collision after Leclerc aborted his lap due to feeling impeded by the McLaren driver.

Leclerc, who was behind Norris on a push lap, found himself in a tricky situation as Norris exited the pit lane. As Leclerc slowed down, his car drifted towards the left and made light contact with Norris. Both drivers were subsequently summoned to the stewards, but Leclerc avoided a significant penalty, receiving only a reprimand.

Speaking to the media, Leclerc provided a detailed account of the events. "Lando Norris was exiting the pit lane and I was behind on a push lap," he explained. "When he aborted, I also aborted. I braked to be alongside him but misjudged it."

‘I was trying not to impede anyone’, says Charles Leclerc

Charles Leclerc admitted that his miscalculation was due to a combination of frustration and the need to avoid impeding the cars behind. "I was on the right side of the track, trying not to impede anyone, and in the middle of that, I was looking in the mirror and got frustrated. That's when we collided, but it was more of a misunderstanding."

Despite the minor collision, Leclerc managed to end the qualifying session in fifth place, expressing satisfaction with Ferrari's improvements after a challenging Friday. He emphasized that intimidating Norris or causing damage was never his intention. "You are always frustrated when you do that, but you never want to touch," Leclerc stated. "That’s the last thing you want to do, to damage your car with qualifying right after. It’s never the goal."
