Hollywood heavyweights Brad Pitt and Channing Tatum are collaborating on an exciting new project focusing on the Isle of Man TT Races, an event known for its thrilling and dangerous motorcycle races. Tatum’s Free Association, Pitt’s Plan B Entertainment, Entertainment 360, Jason Keller, and Box To Box Films have announced their partnership with Mediawan, one of Europe’s leading independent studios, to produce both a docuseries and a feature film about the storied race.

The docuseries, titled ‘The Greatest Race On Earth’, has already commenced production. Box To Box Films, the acclaimed producers behind the popular Formula 1 docuseries ‘Drive To Survive’, will produce the series alongside Tatum’s Free Association and Pitt’s Plan B. The series is expected to air in 2025 and promises to bring the intense world of the Isle of Man TT to a global audience.

This project places the Isle of Man TT among other prestigious sports docuseries produced by Box To Box Films, such as Full Swing (PGA), Break Point (ATP & WTA), Tour De France: Unchained, and Six Nations: Full Contact for Netflix.

“It’s a great privilege”, says Gay-Rees

For James Gay-Rees, co-founder of Box To Box Films and producer of celebrated documentaries like Senna and Diego Maradona, this represents a unique opportunity to spotlight one of the most exhilarating events in motorsport.

“It’s a great privilege to be working with these partners on this extremely unique project,” Gay-Rees said. “The Isle of Man TT is one of the most visceral, exhilarating, and unusual events in the motorsport diary. We can’t wait to bring this incredible world to new audiences”, he further added.

Channing Tatum, Reid Carolin, and Peter Kiernan of Free Association expressed their excitement after experiencing last year’s record-breaking races firsthand. They immersed themselves in the event, meeting with teams, riders, and fans to understand the culture and intensity of the TT races.

“We dare anyone to find more awe-inspiring people or a more breathtakingly vibrant world than the Isle of Man TT Races,” they stated. “We’ve always been drawn to characters who push the edge of what’s possible, and this race is their Shangri-La. We’re deeply honoured to be part of the creative dream team telling the story of this legendary event, and can’t wait to share it with audiences all across the globe.”

Brad Pitt’s Plan B is also fully committed

Brad Pitt’s Plan B Entertainment, known for producing critically acclaimed films like 12 Years a Slave, Selma, and Moonlight, is equally committed to the project. The combination of these production powerhouses aims to capture the essence of the Isle of Man TT, focusing on the remarkable stories of the racers and the unique challenges they face.

Box To Box Films has redefined sports documentaries, creating compelling narratives that engage viewers well beyond traditional sports fans. Their success with ‘Drive to Survive’ has been credited with increasing Formula 1’s popularity in the United States, demonstrating their ability to make sports docuseries a new binge-worthy genre.
